World’s favourite Darjeeling Muscatel is not just rare but also very elusive. Only, perhaps, a handful of tea plants will produce the alluring muscatel flavour in a session.
The Second Flush or Darjeeling Summer Black Muscatel Tea comes with a very fruity finish usually found in Red Wines. In older days, when Darjeeling Tea was made from pure Chinese Bushes, the muscatel tea was found to have a prominently Woody/Forest finish. Now with some new varieties of plants, we see an emergence of Plum Muscatel from a Japanese Origin plant variety called Yabukita. Another variety has a prominent honey character, and can sometimes be very sweet with a black Currant and molasses finish.
In this third Sensory Tea Appreciation Workshop we are excited to explore this fascinating Darjeeling Muscatel from the high altitude gardens of Gopaldhara, which they have freshly produced.
